Pristin was a 10 member girl group debuted by Pledis Entertainment in 2017. Two of the members, Nayoung and Kyulkyung previously debuted in I.O.I, the project group formed from the top 11 contestants on the survival show, Produce 101. Most of the other members also audition for and competed in the show.
For a year prior to their debut, Pristin, then known as 'Pledis Girlz', were heavily promoted with weekly concerts and flashmob events.
The group officially debuted on March 2nd.
In October it was announced that Kyla would be taking a hiatus due to health issues and in the meantime, a Pristin subunit, Pristin V was debuted.
On May 24th 2019, after a prolonged hiatus period for all of the members, the group's disbandment was announced due to the departures of Xiyeon, Rena, Roa, Kyla, Nayoung, Yuha, and Eunwoo from the company.
