"Sleeping Beauty" (잠자는 숲속의 미녀) is a ballet performed by the Korean National Ballet at the Opera Theater of Seoul Arts Center (SAC), from November 3 to November 6, 2016, and from March 22 to March 26, 2017.
Prologue and first act: 70 minutes
Second and third act: 80 minutes
An evil fairy, Carabosse, who wasn't invited to princess Aurora's christening, casts a curse over her: the princess will prick her finger on a spindle and die on her sixteenth birthday. The lilac fairy promises the king and queen that she will protect the baby; however, at Aurora's sixteenth birthday party, Carabosse, in disguise, presents her some roses and the princess pricks her finger on a needle hidden within the flowers, collapsing. The lilac fairy puts the entire kingdom under a deep sleep to save Aurora from death. A hundred years later, prince Désiré finds Aurora and awakens her from her sleep with a kiss; then, the couple marries.
